As he sits in the back of an SUV ferrying him from one recording studio to the next, Ne-Yo reflects on the current state of R&B — and determines that the genre is suffering from serious malaise.
“People just forgot what it was supposed to be, what it was supposed to feel like, the essence of what it is,” he says forcefully. “It’s a vibe, it’s a feeling — it’s supposed to make you feel something, as opposed to, `Let me go eeh-eeh-eeh-eeh-eeh and put a beat behind it and see if people will dance to it.’ Come on man. Mya ‘Liberated’ On New Album

In the last four years, R&B singer Mya replaced her entire management team, made a label switch and broke up with her boyfriend. So it’s no wonder the Washington, D.C. native titled her upcoming Motown debut “Liberation,” set for a June 26 release.
The album was originally due last fall but has been bumped from the schedule a number of times since. “Litigations, court, transitioning from label to label, teaching kids and building a studio, that takes a while,” the 27-year-old singer tells Billboard.com. “That’s why this album is a lot more aggressive, very honest, in your face and cut and dry.” Read more

If you ask Mario the singer about Mario the actor, he’ll say he keeps his two professions completely separate — but the similarities just seem too hard to ignore.

Ne-Yo Upsets Men With Irreplaceable Anthem

R&B sensation Ne-Yo has upset his male friends by penning girl power anthem Irreplaceable for Beyonce Knowles.
Knowles reveals Ne-Yo has been singled out for writing the catchy tune, which spent the first two months of 2007 at number one in America.
She claims some men are upset because Irreplaceable is one of those songs that empower women and give them the strength to kick bad boyfriends out of their lives. Read more

Beyonce’s North American Tour Dates Announced

Superstar and cultural icon Beyonce is bringing her 2007 world tour to North America for a series of live concerts beginning Friday, July 6, at the Superdome in New Orleans. “The Beyonce Experience brought to you by Samsung and L’Oreal Paris,” kicks off April 10 in Tokyo and is currently set to run stateside through September (see itinerary following).
