Alicia Keys’ latest release, “The Element Of Freedom,” topped all album charts, including the UK top 10. Unexpectedly her album is followed by a classical album, André Rieu’s 'Forever Vienna.' Paolo Nutini, Sade, Lady Gaga, Massive Attack, Peter Andre, Michael Buble, Florence and the Machine, and Black Eyed Peas are the other names among the first ten.
Alicia and her duet with Jay-Z “Empire State of Mind” was the highlight of the BRIT Awards 2010 ceremony held on Tuesday, February 16. London’s Earls Court Arena was heated by the dazzling performance of the duo. That was the second time Alicia Keys was a part of the BRIT’s lineup. The first was in 2004. Other artists who performed the night of the BRITs were Lily Allen, Cheryl Cole, JLS, Kasabian, and Robbie Williams.
The 29-year-old singer also recently collaborated with Jay-Z’s wife, Beyonce. They got together in Brazil where Beyonce is touring in the moment. Alicia and Beyonce chose Rio de Janeiro and the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer, as well as the little town of Morro Santa Marta as setting for the video of their new hit Put It In A Love Song, included in Key’s “The Element of Freedom.” Michael Jackson recorded the video for his hit “They don’t really care about us” at the same locations.
Beyonce and Alicia Keys relied on colorful outfits for their new video. The white dress of Alicia contrasted with the green, purple and orange playsuit of Beyonce. This is the first time the two singers collaborate together but Alicia said that she and Beyonce were like “re-united sisters."
After the shooting in Rio, Alicia went straight to Dallas where she made an unforgettable appearance at the NBA All-Star game. After USHER had opened the event with his hits More and Yeah!, and Colombian diva Shakira had heated the atmosphere even more with her passionate performance of She Wolf and Giving It Up For Me, Alicia’s time came. She performed a ten-minute set including the singles Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart, Empire State of Mind and No One. Fans of Alicia can enjoy their shows live by getting discount Alicia Keys tickets.

Need Digital Distribution? Industry Vets offer for Indie Artists

As an Indie Artist, I'm sure you know its "buyer beware" when it comes to signing on for Digital Distribution. After "being taken for a ride" by a few others promising the moon, I FINALLY FOUND A DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION DEAL WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD.

GlobalTraxOnline.com has like 25 years experience distributing artists like Ben E. King, India.Arie, Martha Reeves, Duke Ellington, Sounds of Blackness, Willie Jolley, Joe Lovano and more. We paid just $25 (+ $10/month for 6 months) - totally doable - with 5 band members it was just $5 each up front $2.00 a month and they distributed our digital CD to nearly 400 TOP digital andmobile stores like iTunes, TeamMobile, Rhapsody, eMusic, Beatport, Ruckus, Verizon Wireless, VirginMobile and more. They provided us a marketing campaign that we as a Band can implement, a barcode to track our royalty payments, and THIS IS SO GREAT - they answer our questions and offer advice on things we need day-to-day; via email on a regular basis - this is invaluable.

Go to GlobalTraxOnline.com and you can get going right away; then you'll mail them your CD. Finally, its great to find a distributor that DELIVERS ON THEIR PROMISE! Nothing to loose, everything to gain.

Hey, I'd really appreciate your input on something I've been asked to help out on. I'm working alongside Danny Rampling who's been asked to help collate some lists relating to key tracks within different genres of music.

Can you please take 1 minute to simply list some of your key tracks from the funk, soul & rare groove scenes.

These aren't going to be 'definitive' top 100 lists per-se - the tracks aren't being ranked. We simply want to create a strong reference point: a list of essential tunes that anyone who wants to know more about these scenes should 'track down', listen to and put their 'ears around' to understand and appreciate what the scene stands for and it's development.

It's basically a resource for people to cross reference and learn more about different musical styles and we want lists that are submitted from the most clued up music afficionados: people like YOU. We want to help keep all this wonderful music alive and the idea is that if someone (from let's say the house or drum and bass scene) wants to understand and get into some other genres, that we're providing a strong list for them to track down (and vice versa).

The Southport Weekender Forum Community have already created an awesome list relating to the soulful US House scene which I will post on here in the next week or so.

So in a nutshell, we're looking at compiling a decent list covering the Funk, soul & rare groove scenes. And it's not about right and wrong, as everyone has their own opinion as to what's great and what's not.

As some of the world's most passionate, clued up music lovers, you're best positioned to create this list, and the Norman Jay Good Times Crate Digger members will be 100% credited with compiling the list. And I will also post up the finished list with any relevant links on this forum for you also.

Please take a moment and add your thoughts.

Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions. It's GREATLY appreciated.
